BRIEF OUTLINE ON MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH PROGRAMME,

“CRIME FREE GENERATION-FOCUSING ON STREET CRIME”

12 – 17 MAY 2010, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

INTRODUCTION

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysia Youth Hotel Association and   SSEAYP International Malaysia (KABESA) will be organising the Malaysian International Youth Programme with the theme “Crime Free Generation- Focusing on Street Crime” from the 12 – 17 May, 2009 in Kuala Lumpur. It is in conjunction with the 42 nd National Youth Day of Malaysia.

The programme is organised to foster the development of values and attitudes such as responsibility and also to enhance teaching and learning of other value-related studies such as life education, effective education, and environmental education, where the information, conclusions and recommendations will  be shared among the member countries.

It is hoped that this programme will promote a spirit of togetherness amongst the youth to create a “Culture of Safety” in the neighbourhood, build partnerships among the police force, non-profit organisations, and community leaders. This programme also hopes to enrich the participants with a deeper perception of the threat posed by any forms of crime. Details of the programme and the registration forms are attached.

The main objective of this programme is to gather youth leaders to meet, discuss and ascertain solutions to any forms of crime as well as allow them to identify real issues on the ground. This will allow the youth to have their voices heard by global decision makers in promoting a crime free generation, thus contributing towards achieving global peace, stability and harmony, and providing a base for the participants to strengthen cooperation and enhance networking amongst them.

This programme will be an excellent platform in allowing the voices of youth against crime to be heard and to be given the due recognition by the international and regional bodies as well as national authorities.
